Women’s Rugby Sevens
Women’s Rugby is one of the fastest growing team sports in the world. New Zealand, Australia, Canada and France currently occupy the qualification spots for the Olympics in 2016, with England currently 6 points off the pace. Only 3 tournaments are left, meaning this meeting in Canada (18th-19th April) is crucial in deciding who qualifies. Will New Zealand continue their dominance and win again? Will Canada make home advantage count? Or can England, the current XV’s world champions, find their groove in the Sevens game?
On Sunday 26th April, 30,000 runners will challenge themselves to run 26.2 miles across London. With a wide range of runners, from professionals setting out to join the prestigious list of past winners to amateurs who are trying to raise money for a good cause, the race has become a spectacular event, taking in some of the most breathtaking sights London has to offer.
Question is: Will Wilson Kipsang defend his title from last year? Will Dennis Kimetto challenge his own world record and take the crown?
The Fight of the Century
On the 2nd May the boxing world will have their eyes fixed on Las Vegas for a match that has been 5 years in the making. Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather Jr. will put his unbeaten run of 47 fights on the line against Manny ‘Pac-Man’ Pacquiao in a fight that is set to break all records, with a predicted purse in excess of $300,000,000(!) So who will still be standing at the final bell and lift the newly created $1,000,000 WBC belt above their head?
Some exciting upcoming events
April finishes its sporting calendar with a flourish as England tackle the West Indies in the first (13th-17th April) and second (21st-25th April) tests of a three test series. Following this, we are treated to the second legs of the Quarter-Finals of the Champions League (21st-22nd April), before diving straight into May for the final test of England’s Cricket series with the West Indies (1st-5th May) along with the cycling Tour de Yorkshire (1st-3rd May). We then finish with a flurry as we turn our attention to the Women’s Volleyball Club World Championship in Zurich (6th-10th May), before one of the most attended paid-for sporting events in the UK, the Badminton Horse Trials (6th-10th May), with over 150,000 visitors in attendance. We are excited and we hope you are too!
